Operating leasing is widely utilized by airlines around the world as a means of aircraft procurement. Since the 1980s, it has also been broadly accepted by Japanese institutional investors as an attractive investment asset.
Currently, more than 30,000 commercial jets are in operation worldwide, of which more than 50% are under lease. As travel demand continues to grow, the role of operating leases as a way of aircraft procurement is expected to expand.
Itochu began its aircraft leasing business in the 1970s and has since arranged aircraft leases with airlines around the world.
To domestic customers, Itochu provides comprehensive services, including aircraft sales, lease management, remarketing, and transitions. More recently, Itochu has also been arranging and selling freighters and engines under operating leases.
